A guide to Companion Cards

If your Member has a Companion Card, you'll be able to accompany them to participating venues and on most public transport without paying for a second ticket.

The Companion Card is a national program that allows eligible people with disability to bring a buddy along to participating venues and events without paying for their ticket. It makes it easier and more affordable for people with disability to participate in the community and have fun.

If your Member does not have a Companion Card, we've provided instructions on how they can apply for one here.

If they do have a Companion Card, here are some tips on how you can both make the most of it!

What venues accept Companion Cards?

You'll be surprised how many places you can attend with a Companion Card! Here are some of them:

  • Movie theatres including Hoyts, Events and Palace Cinemas
  • Bowling alleys like Zone Bowling
  • Theme parks like Luna Park and Raging Waters
  • Museums and galleries like ACMI
  • Festivals like Sydney Film Festival

Do Companion Cards cover public transport?

Companion Cards don't just apply to venue tickets—you can use them on public transport too!

In NSW, VIC and QLD, Companion Card holders can bring a companion or carer with them for free on most forms of public transport. They will still need to pay for their normal fare and must carry their Companion Card as proof of entitlement, or they could be fined.
