How do I get started with Like Family?

Find out how to create a Like Family profile and start connecting with local support workers

Joining Like Family is a quick and easy way to discover and connect with caring support workers in your local area.

To get started, head to our website to create a free Like Family account. You'll be asked for a few details, like your address, to help us match you with compatible workers. Your profile will NOT be visible to any support workers unless you choose to engage with them.

Once you're done, there are two main ways you can connect with support workers:

1. Post an Activity

This is like a job ad. Make a post describing what type of support you're looking for, where and when. Support workers can then apply to your Activity and describe why they'd be a great fit. We'll email you when someone applies!

To connect with support workers more quickly, click the "invite to apply" button next to the profile of any support workers you're interested in. This will send them a message about your Activity and encourage them to apply.

2. Search support workers

You can browse our network of support workers (who we call Social Carers) based on location, age, gender and even support experience. If you see someone you like, send them a message to introduce yourself or invite them to apply to your Activity (if you have one).

3. Request a booking

Found a support worker you like? Once you've agreed on where and when you need support, it's time to make a booking. Either you or your support worker can request a booking, which the other person can accept.

If this is your very first booking with this support worker, consider making it a free Meet and Greet.

To request a booking, click on the "Bookings" tab, then "Make a booking". Note: you'll need to provide your emergency contact and payment details before a booking can take place.
