Non-Approved Services & Liability Statement

1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to clearly outline the services that are not provided through the Like Family platform and to reinforce that any services performed outside the platforms approved scope are not covered under our insurance or liability. This ensures the safety of both our independent contractors and the Members they support.

2. Non-Approved Services

Like Family does not provide the following services under any circumstances:

  • Manual handling, hoists, and transfers (including lifting, repositioning, or assisting with mobility beyond general companionship support).

  • Palliative care (including end-of-life care, specialized medical assistance, or pain management).

  • Massage therapy (including any form of physical manipulation or therapy beyond general comfort measures).

  • Medication management (including administering, or handling medications).

  • Wound care (including dressing changes, cleaning, or any form of medical treatment).

3. Independent Contractor Responsibility

All independent contractors using the Like Family platform must adhere to these service boundaries. If a contractor chooses to provide any of the non-approved services listed above, they do so at their own discretion and risk.

  • Like Family will not be liable for any injuries, incidents, claims, or damages resulting from the performance of these services.

  • Any work performed outside of our approved scope will not be covered by our insurance policies.

  • Contractors are responsible for ensuring they have their own insurance coverage if they choose to perform tasks outside of our approved services.

4. Reporting & Safety Procedures

If a Member requests a non-approved service, the contractor must immediately notify Like Family before proceeding. This allows us to assess the situation and explore appropriate options for the Member’s needs while ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Failure to report or comply with this policy may result in contract termination and removal from Like Family’s service platform.

5. Acknowledgment

By continuing to provide services through Like Family, contractors acknowledge that they understand and agree to abide by this policy.
