What if I have a medical exemption?

If you have a valid medical exemption, you can provide this to Like Family in lieu of a vaccination certificate

Registered healthcare providers can issue patients with a medical exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine on the basis of legitimate health concerns. These healthcare providers must log the exemption via the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), by completing the IM011 Medical Exemption form. This allows the patient to download a Medical Contraindication Certificate via the MyGov or Medicare websites.

This certificate is the ONLY medical exemption form that Like Family can accept from Social Carers to relieve them of the requirement to be fully vaccinated.

Medical Exemptions can be either temporary or permanent - the length yours is issued for will be determined solely by your GP or Doctor. If you are issued a temporary medical exemption (usually 3 or 6 months) you will be required to have the exemption reissued or be vaccinated upon its expiry.

What if I have a Medical Certificate?

Medical Certificates, though written by healthcare professionals, are not a valid exemption form. Like Family will not be able to accept a medical certificate in lieu of a vaccination or exemption certificate.

What if I am from overseas?

If you have a medical exemption issued overseas, Like Family may be able to accept it so long as it is your home country's equivalent of the certificate generated by the IM011 form. If you are unsure whether or not your exemption meets those requirements, please email a copy of the certificate to hello@likefamily.com.au, and our onboarding team will review and notify you.
