How can I help to reduce the risk of COVID-19?

COVID-19 is still very present in our community. In order to reduce the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19, Social Carers should take precautions while on bookings and out in the community.

Wear a mask and social distance

Social Carers should wear masks on bookings that take place in high-risk and indoor settings. This includes:

  • Residential aged care or disability facilities
  • Members homes
  • Public transport
  • Cars and other vehicles

Wherever possible, always try to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters away from others.

Maintain good hygiene

Social Carers should always have alcohol-based hand sanitisers on hand and disinfect surfaces and objects regularly between uses.

All community members should regularly wash their hands while on activities for at least 20 seconds using both soap and water. They should also try to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.

Get your booster dose

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 reduces your risk of severe illness and helps to protect those around you. Many individuals across Australia are now eligible or even overdue for their 3rd and 4th doses! To find a vaccination clinic near you, click here.

Offer online bookings

If you or your Member is unwell but still want to stay in touch, suggest organising an online video booking in lieu of your normal face to face meet up! When creating a booking, simply declare that this is an online booking and provide contact details such as a Zoom link, or phone number so you can get in touch at the time of your booking.

Need ideas for a video booking? Consider:

  • Having a chat
  • Watching a movie or tv show together
  • Helping them with a skill-building activity such as cooking or resume writing
  • Doing an online exercise class together
