How do I submit a great application and profile?

The application you submit when you apply becomes the profile that Members will see if you are activated. This article will provide guidance on how to build a profile that will show you in the best possible light for both Like Family and our Members.

Spelling and Grammar

A small but important thing! When filling in the information requested for your profile, be mindful of both your spelling and grammar and always use complete and proper words.

Profile Picture

Choose a headshot in which you are smiling, look friendly, and in which you are maybe even doing something that you love such as cooking or at the beach!

Do not choose a photo in which you are wearing sunglasses, frowning or in swimwear. Also do not upload photos of you holding identifying documents such as your passport, birth certificate, or driver's license.

About Me

The “About Me” is the most important part of your profile. In the “About Me”, make sure that you include your passions, skills, and personality as well as what you do when you are not a Social Carer, any sports that you play, or activities that you enjoy. Some Carers also like to include information about their previous experiences or their career aspirations.

Availability

For Social Carers at the initial onboarding stages, try to provide a guide as to what your availability looks like generally. Once you are activated, however, make sure that your availability is updated on a weekly basis. If you are at capacity and unable to assist any more Members at this time, please set your profile to unavailable.

Qualifications

Qualifications are very important as a lot of Members are looking for specific experience in their Social Carers. Whether it is experience or qualifications in horticulture, fashion, an Olympic Gold Medal or a degree in physics make sure to include it!

Languages

It is important to include all language ability. Whether you are a beginner or advanced it assists our Members in knowing whether you will be the right fit.
