What is an NDIS Worker Screening Check?

An NDIS Workers Check is an essential requirement to work as a Social Carer at Like Family or any registered NDIS provider.

The NDIS Worker Screening Check is an assessment of whether a person who works, or seeks to work, with people with disability poses a risk to them. The assessment determines whether a person is cleared or excluded from working in certain roles with people with disability.

The check itself is conducted by the Worker Screening Unit in the state or territory in which you apply for it. This unit also determines whether or not a person is cleared to work or excluded from working within this sector.

It is a requirement for any worker of a registered NDIS provider to get an NDIS Workers Check indicating you are cleared to work to ensure the safety of our Members. These checks are valid for 5 years and are valid for work across all states, and all NDIS registered providers. It is a mandatory requirement, and cannot be replaced by previously obtained or recently issued Police Checks or Yellow Cards.

In the event you commit a crime, or jeopardise the status of your check during the 5-year issue period in any other way, Like Family will be notified and you will be removed from our platform.
