What screening does a Social Carer go through?

Like Family ensures all Carers go through a thorough screening process

Each Social Carer undergoes a comprehensive vetting and onboarding process to ensure that they meet our standards (we don’t accept any Social Carers we wouldn’t want taking care of our own families). This includes the following:

  • An online values test
  • A group induction for those who want to provide social support
  • Reference checks
  • All appropriate industry checks (e.g. NDIS Worker Screening Check for those supporting NDIS participants)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

We pride ourselves on carefully reviewing the profiles of each Social Carer to ensure they meet our standards. As a result, about 30% of all applicants are rejected at some stage during the onboarding process.

Social Carers who support NDIS participants are also subject to ongoing screening by the NDIS Commission, who regularly monitors the status of their NDIS Worker Screening Checks. In the event a Social Carer's circumstances change, making them no longer eligible to work in this industry, Like Family is notified and they are immediately removed from the platform.
