Social Carers can make themselves eligible for more work on the Like Family platform by completing the various requirements at each onboarding level.
Like Family provides services to a variety of Members, including Aged Care, NDIS participants, and children. As Social Carers, you are able to provide support with a variety of tasks such as cleaning and domestic assistance, social support, community access, and skill building.
Because of the differences in required background checks and clearances for these Members and service types, Like Family offers a tiered onboarding experience for Social Carers, meaning you only need to provide the mandatory checks and clearances for the service types you are interested in providing.
Level 1: Non-NDIS Domestic Assistance
Our lowest access level is for those who are interested in providing domestic assistance to Aged Care Members or privately funded Members exclusively. You will not be able to work with Members who are NDIS participants or under the age of 18 and you are not eligible to provide any support service other than domestic assistance.
In order to receive this level of clearance you must have the following:
- 100 points of ID and the right to work in Australia
- An ABN
- 3 references
- COVID-19 Vaccination
- Certificate of completion for the COVID-19 Infection Control module
- a Police Check OR NDIS Worker Screening Check
Level 2: Non-NDIS Social Support
Our next access level is for those who are interested in providing social support services to Aged Care and privately funded Members. Social Carers in this access level will also be able to provide domestic assistance to these Member types, but will still not be eligible to work with Members who are NDIS participants or under 18.
In order to receive this level of clearance you must have all of the level 1 requirements, plus:
- Successful completion of the Like Family induction
Level 3: NDIS Social Support
The third access level unlocks all support services for NDIS participants, excluding transport. By meeting the access requirements for this level, you are able to apply for almost all Activities posted by Aged Care, privately funded and NDIS Members.
In order to receive this level of clearance, you must have all of the level 1 and 2 requirements, plus:
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check (Police Checks alone are not suitable for this level of access)
- Certificate of completion for the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Additional Access Requirements
To be eligible to work with Members who are seeking transport services, you must provide:
- A copy of your driver licence
- The registration details for any vehicle you wish to use for work
To be eligible to work with Members who are under 18, you must provide:
- a valid Working with Children's Check or Blue Card that is valid for paid work (volunteer cards are not acceptable)
To be eligible to work with Members who have Mealtime Management Plans, you must provide:
- Certificate of completion for the NDIS Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals module
What else can you do?
If you have satisfied the requirements of each onboarding level, you are eligible to apply for every Activity type on the Like Family platform. Here are a few suggestions on how you can make the most of these job opportunities:
1. Download the Like Family Social Carer App
The Like Family App has been developed specifically for our Social Carers. It allows you to access all areas of the platform necessary to work effectively as a Social Carer, including applying for activities, messaging Members and creating and completing bookings.
2. Check your availability settings
Your availability is a part of your profile that should be updated regularly.
In order to be eligible to receive messages from Members and Account Managers about available work in your area, ensure your profile is set to visible. This ensures that your profile appears when Members and Account Managers are looking for available Social Carers.
When completing your availability section, declare what days and times you are usually free to work by checking the boxes that appear and provide additional detail as required.
Check and update your availability settings here.
3. Turn on email notifications
We regularly send emails to Social Carers about activities that have been posted in their local area. We also notify Carers by email if a Member has messaged them.
In order to ensure you don't miss these important emails, be sure to allow notifications from your Social Carer dashboard.
Check and update your notifications settings here.
3. Regularly check your dashboard
In order to stay on top of available work in your area, be sure to check the Social Carer dashboard on a regular basis.
Activities are consistently being posted by our Members, meaning new work could be available in your area almost daily! By regularly checking your Social Carer dashboard, you can be sure that you are staying up to date on all the activities currently available in your area.
4. Apply to activities quickly
A lot of activities that are posted are looking for Social Carers to start working relatively quickly. As soon as you see an activity you are interested in, be sure to send in an application straight away in order to give yourself the best chance of being selected.
5. Visit our Events page for inspiration
We post fun and accessible activities happening across Australia on our Events page, like sensory-friendly museum sessions, outdoor movie screenings, and even all-abilities skydiving days. If you see an event you like, register your interest, then Members can reach out asking to attend the event with you.
