Requirements for working with Members under 18

Social Carers are able to decide what Members they would like to work with and what types of services they would like to provide. This article contains information regarding Like Family's onboarding requirements to work with Members under 18

Over 20% of Like Family's Activities are with Members under the age of 18. When seeking support from Social Carers, the families and guardians of these children commonly request assistance with:

  • Mentoring and skills training
  • Community access and outings
  • Transport assistance (such as to and from school or appointments)
  • In-home respite
  • Before and after school care
  • Meal preparation

To work with Members under the age of 18, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • 100 points of ID and the right to work in Australia
  • An ABN
  • 3 references
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Certificate of completion for the COVID-19 Infection Control module
  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Certificate of completion for the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Successful completion of the Like Family Induction
  • A valid Working With Children's Check or Blue Card valid for paid work (volunteer cards are not acceptable)

If you wish to be able to provide transport services to these Members, you will also need to provide:

  • A copy of your driver licence
  • The registration details of any vehicle you may use when providing these services

To work with Members under 18 who are under the care and guardianship of the Department of Communities and Justice, you will also need:

  • A valid Police Check in addition to their NDIS Worker Screening Check

What is the Like Family Induction?
